In late September and early
October 2008,
I traveled again to Scopello del Castellammare and Palermo. I was able to spend a week in both
locations. Familiar with these locales, I totally immersed myself in the culture and the beauty
of the land on this visit.
I
sat by the sea, and found some quiet steps
and church interiors in Palermo to paint my watercolors.
In Palermo, I also shopped at the
exciting Ballaro and the Vucciria
market. My apartment was located in a local neighborhood, where
nearby, I enjoyed
meeting the residents and workers in the small shops.
On this voyage I also
visited the majestic ancient site of Segesta, and took a breath taking cable car to the
medieval mountain town of Erice.
The western town of San Vito lo Capo has a cous cous festival, the last
week in September each year. It was a fun experience for my travel
companions and myself. |
